Sarsfields 4-9 Barryroe 2-2
The Minor D Championship, in its inaugural year, was played on a round robin basis. Sars qualified for the final against Barryroe having been unbeaten all year. The game was played in the camogie grounds in Mahon which was in fantastic condition. Sars opted to play with the wind and Louise Murphy had the ball in the back of the net inside the first minute. Murphy was again in the right place 5 mins later to score her 2nd goal of the day. Sars had all the play at this stage with Rita Crowley and Nicole Hickey having a point a piece in the 8th & 9th minute.
Barryroe got more into the game but found it hard to get past Karen Comerford and Edel Meaney who were rock solid in the back line. Barryroe pulled a goal back in the 19th min but Orlaith Keane, who was playing very well at midfield, scored another for Sars 10 mins later. Points from Yvonne O
