Better late than ever- Back in 1954 Sarsfields captured the Minor County title, and a key member of that panel was Kerry native Morgan O’Brien. Immediately after the game, Morgan left for England where he worked for the next fifteen years. Recently it came to light that Morgan never in fact received his coveted county medal. This evening at Sarfields club, surrounded by family and friends, the situation was rectified. Yes, 58 years later, club chairman Tadhg Murphy presented Morgan with his long overdue momento of the special occasion. Thanking the club, Morgan said very few Kerry men hold Cork county medals, and he will cherish the medal for many years to come.
